It is a great pleasure to welcome all the participants of the 9th Symposium with
international participation Kopački Rit: Past, Present, Future 2020. Symposium was
organized by Public Institution “Nature Park Kopački Rit”, Faculty of Agrobiotechnical
Sciences Osijek, Faculty of Education, Department of Biology and Department of
Chemistry, which are member units of the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of
Osijek, and Public Institution Agency for Management of Protected Natural Values in
Osijek-Baranja County. Two international associations: The Danube River Network of
Protected Areas (DANUBEPARKS) and Balkan Environmental Association (B.EN.A.)
assisted the international support to the organization of the symposium.
Due to the exceptional situation caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic
and epidemiological restriction, it was not possible to organise the symposium in the
attractive natural landscape of Nature Park Kopački Rit. Consequently, it was organised
in the virtual reality by making public the recorded oral presentations and virtual poster
session on Web pages, on 25 September 2020.

Although the symposium is, according to its title, focused on biodiversity, ecology
and the environmental status in Nature Park Kopački Rit, it also promotes a wide
multidisciplinary approach to the topics of education, history, linguistics, tourism and
sustainable development. We are very pleased that scientists and experts from abroad
contributes to the symposium every year.
We are grateful to the faithful sponsors of the symposium: The Environmental
Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund, Privredna Banka Zagreb d.d., Osijek-Baranja
County and the publishing house Alfa d.d. Zagreb, who all recognized the significance
of the symposium for the social community.

In order to be able to access the review of verbally and poster presentations of the 9th Symposium Kopački rit yesterday, today tomorrow 2020, it is necessary to make a short registration – an application containing your name and e-mail address as a mandatory field and the name of the organization you come from as optional field. In this way, you get the possibility of unlimited viewing of verbally and poster presentations.
